Report: Putin: Russia not to sell Gazprom despite 80% cap fall

MOSCOW, Sep 5 (PRIME) -- The Russian government has no aim to sell gas giant Gazprom although the has company lost 80% of its U.S. dollar capitalization over a decade, President Vladimir Putin told Bloomberg in an interview released on Monday.

“Gazprom is clearly undervalued -- this is an absolutely obvious fact,” Putin said. “We have no plans to sell it yet, and this is because of the special features of the Russian economy, the social sphere and the Russian energy industry.”

He said that in spite of the market quotations changes, Gazprom is stable as a state company and plays a crucial role in the socio-economic life of Russia.
